Copyright Guide for Faculty and Staff

Institutional Repository & Faculty Publications

The Patrick Power Library & Archives have been hard at work behind the scenes collecting, cataloging and uploading a wide variety of materials to showcase the best of Saint Mary's, past and present, in our institutional repository. Along with historical pictures and documents we are also showcasing some published works by Saint Mary's University's own faculty members.

Please note: Certain copyright requirements need to be met before your work can be posted to our online repository. Most publishers and journals have a policy in regards to the use of their content in institutional repositories. Some publishers may welcome you to share your published work in as many places as possible. Other publishers may be more restrictive and only allow for specific drafts of your paper to be posted. If you are aware of the licensing and copyright restrictions on your work please let us know when submitting the documents. If you are unaware of the licensing terms we can certainly investigate them for you. The final/publisher PDF is the preferred version of the paper. Unfortunately if your publisher does not allow this version to be posted you may need to submit a pre-print, or post print version of the work.

We would love to have your work on display! If you are interested in having your work showcased in the repository please contact Peter Webster (5507).

If you have questions about the copyright obligations and self archiving policy of your work please contact the library.
