2SLGBTQ+ Community Guide

GET OUT HALIFAX is a group for everyone interested in finding queer community and events that do not involve alcohol, parades, or nightclubs but instead revolves around the outdoors and recreation.

The Halifax Pride Festival is an annual 11 day gathering in the Halifax Regional Municipality for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. However, Halifax Pride does a lot more than just a parade. They offer volunteer opportunities and year-round programming like their "senior social calls" program. Check out their website to learn more.

Since 1995, NSRAP has strived to provide a coherent voice for gay, lesbian, bisexual, two-spirit, trans, and queer people in Nova Scotia. Today, the issues they advocate for include legal protections of gender identity and gender expression, breaking down barriers to accessing gender markers and name changes, as well as fighting against Pinkwashing and the blood ban.

Sexual Health Nova Scotia is explicitly sex-positive, pro-choice, and LGBTQA2S* friendly Everyone who walks into Member Centres is respected and given clear, open and honest choices. All services are free.

Their mission is to make Nova Scotia a safer, healthier, and happier place for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. They provide resources, events and programming, volunteer opportunities, and education for 2SLGBTQ youth in Halifax, Cape Breton, and the Annapolis Valley.

Glitter Bean Cafe is a queer-centric, unionized, worker-owned co-op offering specialty coffees, teas, baked treats, light fare, liquor service, catering, venue rental and community events! They are a great source of community information, often running fundraisers and in general offering a safe space for the queer community in Halifax.
