Research Data Management

Library Assistance with Research Data Management

The Library can assist with research data management at any stage of a research project. Library staff are available for one-on-one or group consultations. We are happy to arrange presentations to faculty groups and classes. Contact us at LibraryRDM@smu.ca for assistance.

Ideally, a researcher will approach the library before the project begins. That way the RDM team can guide the project from the pre-research phase to foresee and prevent any issues occurring as the project progresses.

Library help with research data management can include, but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring the proper licensing for reuse is applied to the data.
  • Assist in identifying possible subject discipline repositories.
  • Assist with uploading research data and metadata to the SMU Dataverse.
  • Ensuring that the uploading and sharing of data complies with funder and/or journal requirements.
  • Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy

If you have a completed project, the RDM team is happy to help you assess the data and its accompanying documentation, upload data in the SMU Dataverse, and assist with finding other reputable repositories in which to share your data.
