Notice: PRME Guide under Construction

The PRME guide is currently being updated, some parts of this guide may appear empty as we remove broken and dead links. Check back for updates!

What is PRME?

Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) aims to encourage deeper discussion of social and environmental responsibility within business and management school curriculum. The initiative is part of the UN Global Compact, and it directly supports the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing topics like global inequalities, gender equality, climate action, poverty, peace and strong institutions. The Sobey School of Business signed on to PRME in 2014.

The Sobey School PRME Library collection will help you find the resources and best practices you need to start incorporating PRME and the SDGs into your academic coursework.

For more information about PRME, the Global Compact, and the Sustainable Development Goals, visit the "About the UN Global Compact, PRME and the SDGs" section.

How do I use the PRME Library?

*PLEASE NOTE: References in this guide are publicly available, but full text of articles and books is restricted to Saint Mary's University users. Those not associated with Saint Mary's University may access these materials through other institutions.

To your left, you'll see the different Sobey School business departments. Click on one to start exploring the PRME/SDG resources connected to that department and its disciplines. The Multidisciplinary section has resources that can be used more widely, including online games, tools, and apps. The PRME Newsfeeds page contains regularly updated RSS feeds related to PRME and the SDGs.

Every department page has subpages stored underneath for different kinds of materials (e.g. books, case studies, games).

Within each subpage, resources are organized and cross-listed according to subtopics (e.g. CSR, Growth Strategy, Risk Management, Marketing Channels, International). You'll find certain subtopics consistent across different departments, while others are more specific to each discipline.

Finally, each individual resource is labeled with one or more "SDG Topics" in its description, to make it clear which Sustainable Development Goals are covered by that resource. To search for resources across the PRME Library that match specific SDGs, type the SDG Topic (e.g. Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) into the search bar in the upper-right corner.

We want to hear from you!
